Ząbkowice Śląskie są miastem dobrze znanym nie tylko w regionie, ale znacznie dalej. A to za sprawą słynnej wieży, która jest krzywa i stanowi główną atrakcję miasta, choć niejedyną.
Przez lata, podobnie jak wiele innych dolnośląskich miast, były niedoinwestowane, jednak z pomocą funduszy unijnych miasto odzyskuje dawny blask.
Krzywa Wieża jest najwyższą i najbardziej krzywą wieżą w Polsce i drugą w Europie zaraz po włoskiej Pizie. Jej odchylenie od pionu wynosi aż 2,14 metry. Widać to nie tylko gołym okiem, ale daje się również odczuć stojąc wewnątrz wieży. Budowla jest wysoka na 34 metry, a to prawie tyle co dziesięciopiętrowy budynek. Na szczyt wieży wiedzie aż 139 schodów, ale widoki z jej szczytu rekompensują trud wejścia.
Ząbkowice miały sporo szczęścia, bo mimo, że poprzednie wieki były dość burzliwe dla losów tego miasta, to od II połowy XIX było już spokojnie i nawet II Wojna Światowa nie spowodowała tutaj żadnych zniszczeń. Wtedy też zaczęła funkcjonować nazwa miasta- Ząbkowice Śląskie. Ze względu na położenie, bo na wysokości 280 m n.p.m, bogatą historię i ciekawe zabytki, miasto i gmina są jednymi z ciekawszych krajoznawczo miejsc na Dolnym Śląsku.
Dzięki inwestycjom z Unii Europejskiej mieszkańcy mogą czuć się bezpiecznej po wymianie oświetlenia ulicznego w rynku, a młodzież cieszy wyremontowane boisko sportowe przy szkole podstawowej. Na kilku podwórkach pojawiła się również zieleń i mała architektura.
Przebudowano także budynek mieszkalny na potrzeby Domu Pomocy Społecznej. To działanie realizowane było w partnerstwie ze Starostwem Powiatowym. Powstało w nim 16 dodatkowych miejsc całodobowego pobytu z przeznaczeniem dla osób przewlekle psychicznie chorych. Spełnia on najwyższe standardy i wymogi dotyczące tego typu obiektów i jest jedyną na terenie Powiatu Ząbkowickiego placówką świadczącą takie usługi.

Ząbkowice Śląskie grows beautiful
Ząbkowice Śląskie is a city which is well-known in the region and beyond its borders. And all because of the famous tower which is known as a leaning tower and which is the key attraction of the city, though not the only one.
Over the years, as many other Lower Silesian towns, the city remained underinvested, however, with the help of the EU funds it has been regaining its former charm.
The leaning tower is the highest and the most leaning tower in Poland and second one in Europe, right after the Italian Piza tower. Its deviation from vertical amounts to as many as 2.14 meters. It is visible with the naked eye, but it is also felt while standing inside the tower. The building is 34 meters high which is almost as much as a 5-storey building. 139 steps lead up to the top of the tower but the views from the top compensate the trouble of climbing up.
Ząbkowice were quite lucky as despite the fact that the past centuries had been rather turbulent for this town, from the second half of the XIXth century it was quite peaceful and even the Second World War did not cause any damages here. At that time, the name of the city – Ząbkowice Śląskie – started to function. Due to its location, at the level of 280 meters a.s.l. As well as its rich history and unique monuments the town as well as the commune have become one of the more interesting landscape-wise locations in the Lower Silesia.
Thanks to the investments obtained from the European Union the inhabitants may feel safer after the replacement of streetlights in the market square and the youth appreciates the renovated sport field by the elementary school. Some green areas and small architecture also appeared on several backyards.
Furthermore, the residential building was rebuilt for the purposes of the Social Assistance House. This action was realized in partnership with the Poviat Starost Office. 16 additional spots for overnight stay were formed here with a designation for chronically mentally ill patients. It fulfils the most rigid standards and requirements concerning this type of objects and is the only facility in the area of the Ząbkowice Poviat which provides this type of services.
