Jak dobrze można zagospodarować od lat nieużywane, ale nadal piękne budynki, wiedzą mieszkańcy Bolkowa. Tamtejsze Towarzystwo Miłośników Bolkowa kilka lat temu zainicjowało proces przywrócenia do użytkowania zabytkowego obiektu budynku dawnego kościoła ewangelickiego. Z pomocą przyszły władze miasta i fundusze unijne, dzięki którym udało się wyremontować budynek i zagospodarować go tak, aby służył mieszkańcom.
Sam budynek kościoła został zbudowany w stylu neogotyckim za miastem na terenach ogrodowych Miał charakterystyczną wysoką dzwonnicę z czterema narożnymi wieżyczkami, a w środku znajdowało się 850 miejsc siedzących. W latach 20. XX wieku zainstalowano w nim dwudziestosześciogłosowe organy, a nawet elektryczne ogrzewanie podłogowe. W latach pięćdziesiątych i sześćdziesiątych budynek przeszedł remont i został zaadaptowany na salę gimnastyczną dla miejscowego Zespołu Szkół Rolniczych. Od roku 2010, kiedy szkoła zrezygnowała z prowadzenia zajęć w tym obiekcie, stał pusty i nieużytkowany. Gruntowny remont budynku pozwolił na przywrócenie dawnego blasku temu miejscu.
Dziś mieści się tu Bolkowska Galeria Historyczno-Artystyczna ARS ET HISTORIA. Bardzo prężnie działa tu biblioteka publiczna, która oprócz tego, że gromadzi i udostępnia zbiory, organizuje spotkania autorskie, zajęcia dla dzieci i dla seniorów. Odbywają się tu wystawy, koncerty muzyczne i inne wydarzenia artystyczne. Odbudowa kościoła i zmiana jego funkcji pozwoliła na miejsca przyjaznego mieszkańcom, ale i turystom. Obiekt jest przystosowany dla osób niepełnosprawnych.

Bolków Historical and Artistic Gallery ARS ET HISTORIA
The residents of Bolków possess a remarkable talent for breathing new life into long-neglected yet still splendid structures. Several years ago, the Bolków Society of Enthusiasts embarked on an ambitious journey to revive the historic edifice of the former evangelical church. With the invaluable support of municipal authorities and funding from the European Union, they successfully undertook the painstaking renovation of this venerable structure, ingeniously adapting it to serve the local community.
This church, a striking testament to neo-Gothic architecture, graced the outskirts of town amidst idyllic garden grounds. It boasted an iconic lofty bell tower adorned with four charming corner turrets, while its interior could comfortably accommodate an impressive congregation of 850 worshippers. In the 1920s, the church was further embellished with a majestic twenty-six-voice organ and even boasted the luxury of electric underfloor heating. Subsequently, during the 1950s and 60s, the building underwent transformations, transitioning into a gymnasium for the nearby Agricultural School. However, since 2010, when the school ceased utilizing the premises for educational purposes, it has languished in a state of disuse and abandonment. It took an extensive renovation effort to restore the building to its former grandeur.
Today, the beautifully rejuvenated structure is home to the Bolków Historical and Artistic Gallery, aptly named ARS ET HISTORIA. Within these hallowed walls, a thriving public library operates with unwavering dynamism, not merely curating and granting access to its extensive collections but also serving as a vibrant hub for author gatherings, engaging activities tailored for children and seniors alike, captivating exhibitions, melodious musical concerts, and a plethora of other culturally enriching events. The transformation of the church, both in its renewed splendour and its newfound purpose, has gifted the community a warm and inviting space, equally accessible to residents and tourists alike. Importantly, the facility has been thoughtfully designed to cater to the needs of individuals with disabilities.
